Alarming Mental Health Trends I'm Seeing In My Practice That Are Affecting Everyone

Since the pandemic in 2020, I’ve seen a clear and concerning shift in mental health across my clients. What started as short-term stress has, for many, turned into long-term patterns affecting how people think, feel, and relate to others. These issues are not isolated- they are widespread, cross-generational, and increasingly normalized.

Social Anxiety Is Rising- Many people who once felt comfortable socially now experience anxiety, self-doubt, or avoidance. Prolonged isolation reshaped how we interact, and for some, even basic social situations now feel overwhelming.

Unhealthy Relationship Dynamics With Narcissists Are Increasing- I’m seeing more patterns of emotional manipulation, lack of empathy, and one-sided relationships across romantic, friendship, and work settings. These dynamics often leave people feeling drained, confused, and questioning themselves.

Loneliness Is More Common Than Ever- Despite constant digital connection, people feel deeply alone. The issue isn’t access to others, it’s the lack of meaningful, authentic connection. And physical touch. Link that to increased social anxiety, isolation becomes the norm.

Relationships Are Under Strain- There’s been a noticeable rise in relationship instability and divorce. Many people are also carrying unresolved patterns into new relationships, leading to repeated cycles.

Modern Dating Is Emotionally Exhausting- Across all age groups, dating has become more frustrating and discouraging. Inconsistency, ghosting, emotional unavailability, avoidant/anxious attachment patterns are common, leaving many feeling burned out or disconnected from the process entirely.

Social Media Is Impacting Self-Worth- Constant comparison to curated lives is eroding self-esteem. Even when people know it’s not reality, the emotional impact is real leading to feelings of inadequacy and self-doubt. This is particular concerning for my clients who have had access to social media from childhood.

How I Help Clients Heal and Move Forward

While these trends are serious, they are also highly workable with the right support. With my Holistic Approach, I help each client understand and address the root causes behind how they think, feel, and react. Together, we explore the deeper patterns driving their experiences, whether it is their past conditioning, attachment styles, learned coping mechanisms, or long-standing beliefs about themselves. By identifying these underlying factors, clients are able to make meaningful, lasting shifts instead of repeating the same cycles.

I help clients rebuild confidence, challenge negative self-perceptions and strengthen communication skills. We work on boundaries, self-trust, and recognizing patterns early so they can respond differently rather than react automatically.

A key part of my work is helping clients regulate their emotional responses, manage stress effectively, and build resilience. This allows them to feel more in control, not just of their circumstances, but of how they experience and respond to them.

The Goal: Lasting Change from the Inside Out

My goal is not just to help clients feel better temporarily, but to help them understand themselves on a deeper level, strengthen their sense of self, and create lasting, sustainable change.

When you address the root cause, everything else begins to shift including how you show up in relationships, how you handle stress, and how you see yourself.

If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected, you’re not alone. But more importantly, change is possible, and it starts from within. Reach out if you have questions or would like to work with me. Click here.
